Kings and Queens Rise
Black youth often lack access to safe, supportive environments for recreation and mentorship—especially in the summertime. Neighborhoods affected by violence and systemic exclusion need intentional spaces for community building and positive engagement.Kings and Queens Rise (KQR) is Black Child Legacy Campaign’s co-ed youth sports and mentoring league engaging 4th to 11th graders from eight neighborhoods in intercommunity basketball games, cheer and mentoring activities.
The league promotes sportsmanship, friendship and character-building. KQR was created in response to the killing of Stephon Clark and is held in partnership with the Sacramento Kings, Sacramento State University and My Brother’s Keeper Sacramento.

Help More Youth Rise
Every summer, Kings and Queens Rise provides hundreds of Sacramento youth with a safe place to belong, build confidence and grow through sports, mentorship and leadership development.
For many young people, KQR is more than a league. It is a community of coaches, mentors, peers and caring adults who help them develop life skills, build healthy relationships and navigate challenges both on and off the court.
Your gift helps ensure youth from Sacramento neighborhoods most impacted by violence and inequitable opportunities have access to safe spaces, positive mentors and experiences that foster hope, connection and personal growth.
