BCLC partners united local nonprofits to reduce the concerning disparities between Black children and all other ethnic groups (2020).

24% reduction in deaths related to perinatal conditions

Black families have increased access to practical resources, educational material and workshops addressing medical racism and discrimination (2021).

54% reduction in infant sleep deaths

“Safe sleep” campaigns were integrated into all health plans and families were provided with safe accommodation (2020).

88% reduction in deaths due to child abuse and neglect

Children affected by poverty were housed and access to social services and community centers was expanded (2020).

22% reduction in third-party homicides

BCLC’s Healing the Hood strategy funded a network of crisis intervention workers collaborating with local hospitals, schools and law enforcement to protect Black families (2020).

96% reduction in the child abuse and neglect disparity gap between Black children and all other races

Identifying and addressing the disparities particular to each neighborhood reduced the gap (2020).

60% reduction in the third-party homicide disparity gap between Black individuals and other races
